hmm, D3 doesn't seem to feature a free-moving camera, but does have the WC3 style zooming in.
i guess we'll wait a see.

In the gameplay video where they say there is no such thing as being to powerful, anyone else think that is Blizzard take a jab at Guild Wars for people saying that Guild Wars was a bit of a rival to WoW? But this game won't be out tell late '09 at the earliest so all of you whiners saying it looks to similar, (probably the same people that would give Crisis game of the year for the eye bleeding graphics) they can improve graphics and still keep it working on the majority of computers.

On the contrary, I don’t mind the graphics. I still even play Neverwinter Nights from time to time. In fact, I accuse Crysis of doing the same thing I have seen most other FPS do in the past several years; which made the game utterly unplayable after the first play through. The developers are now blaming piracy as the main source of not having Crysis selling well, which I think is total rubbish. I believe it was the system requirements that killed that game from being a top seller.
It’s just the gameplay in Diablo III that has not really changed that much or any new invention from your typical “hack & slash RPG,” I have seen in the past few years. Yes, they have added in a few new features into the game but it does not look to be radically different from it’s predecessors. I know the Diablo series is a popular franchise but it does not mean that it will be the perfect game.

Finally, I'm so excited for this game. Wasn't going to buy GW2 anyways, and now I have found my future game.

I think they will keep the graphics fairly simple to make shure a lot of people can play it. And the simpler the graphics, the more stuff they can throw at you when it comes to mob sizes and spell effects.
Mmmm...i really begin to believe there wont be a monthly fee for this one.

Meh. I loved D2 about as much as anybody, but the only thing I care about from Blizzard is for them not to screw up Starcraft 2. All I see this as is a distraction from what truly matters - LIVING FOR THE SWARM

Looks pretty good. I've been waitin' ages for another Diablo. But the people already claiming its better than Guild Wars 2 make me laugh. I'm sorry but a hack and slash dungeon crawler shouldn't even be compared to GW2 in the first place. They are completely different types of games.

Doom 3 wasn't the same, that was the problem. It was a bad Resident Evil. The first two dooms were all about mowing down hordes of demons at lightspeed, this had a few guys popping out of the shadows and vanishing, forcing you to scuttle around frightened with your flashlight. Find some of the better mods for doom3 like classic or "in hell" which tried to recreate the original style, and voila, the game is actually fun again.
Technology developments are hurting these genres. Developers get excited about adding more and more detailed enemies, but then can only display a few on-screen at the time, which changes the gameplay. Or, the advent of 3d tempts people into free-roving cameras, which require different UIs, allow time for players to orient the cameras, and subtract from your immediate field awareness. Both these points Blizzard is dodging by fixing the cameras in this game and their RTS's, so they can still render hordes of low-detail 3d monsters rampaging around, zoomed at a distance that you won't care, and you can just focus on the action.

when I saw teh gameplay trailer, I was like... graphics are meh
but now I realise it's good to avoid high graphics so anybody can run it on a fairly good gaming PC while managing to fight off SWARMS of mobs and dishing out BAZILLIONS of spell and summoning KATRILLION of undead minions.... awesome.
-------------------
also the game is going to be free multiplayer, following along with its predecessor in Battle.net

Bad resident evil? I stopped reading at that point. Unlike you however I will not elaborate my point!

I see hordes of monsters, not-that-big character customization and plot-just-to-have-one in both games. Sure, diablo 2 has more monsters, gw more character customs (unless you are talking about pve - ursan + 2-3 monks ;ddd) and... well, if there was NO plot in GW OR D2 I wouldn't be sad. Both were kinda meh.
And please, stop defending gw/gw2 by saying ,,different types of games''. Both are bought once, free multi on developer's servers and a lot more similarities. What, you want me to compare GW to WoW clones?

Well, happened to me when Neverwinter Nights 2 came out. But remember this is Blizzard. They either give a great game that instantly becomes a number one hit, or they cancel it so it won't desecrate the legend.

D3 was already canceled at least once for not being avesome ... next d3 was made from scratch. Blizzard has balls to make this kind of decidions when other comanies would just release shitty game.
Really, you just cant expect blizzard to release bad game. They have their wow-cash-cow and are pretty much free to do good games without needing to make em mass marketable lowestcommon shit.

Actually it was canceled because Blizzard North shut down after most of the unit's employees left between 2003-2005. So a new team started fresh after that.
But yeah, Blizzard has the money and courage to cancel games rather than release shitty ones.

For those worried about paying for online, only xbox live and MMOs do that so don't worry. Why MMOs have to charge for online I don't know, we have been playing games online for a long time with no fees with games like Diablo but you put it in 3d and you have to charge? wtf. all of that goes on in your computer anyways but what do I know.
